Is "24" Running Out of Time?

It’s happened to “The X-Files”, “The Cosby Show”, “Cheers”, “Hill Street Blues”, and even “Sanford & Son” (smiles). It happens to the best of shows……….s**t get’s old. Now, “why” it gets old is up for debate.

The Question of the Day: Is “24” Running Out of Time”?

You remember the good ol’ days don’t you (as recently as last season)? You know…..anticipating the sounds of “tick’…….’tick’……...’tick’…….’Previously on 24!”
The days of Jack Bauer ( Aka – Captain America ) passionately interrogating defenseless enemies of state. The times we would gather in group huddles days after each episode to debate on the high’s & low’s of the previous show. The passion, the suspense, the intensity,……..is it gone?

I for one have been having minimal conversations with long-time “24” fans and it seems as if we ALL have come to the same conclusion……it’s not the show that seems to be dwindiling……it’s our expectations.

Is Jack Bauer the modern day Luke Skywalker? How about Bruce Lee? Some might even say John Wayne (I think Chuck D would find offense with that one), but I’m sure you get where I’m coming from. Most individuals who have dedicated an hour of their time ONCE to tuning in to an episode of “24” have hopelessly found themselves becoming attached to the show and it’s plot. Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland – yes, from the “Lost Boys”) has a lot to do with the shows success over the years. Many of us believe he’s the sole reason why we found ourselves continually tuning in every Monday night. I actually believe the veteran cast and the music incorporated within the show are equally as important as Jack/Kiefer himself.

With this said though, the average fan is starting to loose some interest. People aren’t in that much of a rush to get home by 8:55 on Mondays. People aren’t in that big of a rush to put their kids to bed by 8:45 on Monday nights. People aren’t ignoring many phone calls between the hours of 9:00-10:00 on Mondays either anymore.

If “24” is truly loosing some of its punch, whose fault is it? Are we to be blamed? What’s your opinion?

I give the show one more year. After that they'll decide enoughs, enough.

Well I guess I'm not the only one who thought '24' was losing some of it's steam. I think the producers are showing a softer more human side of Jack, even though I don't know if that's necessarily good for the show.

More to come...I have to go on a Tea break!!!

The new president sucks! That's why they took him out of the plot recently. The last two president's were much better. The show ain't same. Two years ago it was off the meter. The Sopranos suck now too.
