Don "The Cowboy" Imus

The Question: What does Rush Limbaugh, a Grand Dragon of the KKK, & Don Imus have in common? The Answer: A whole lot

A few weeks back I mentioned that Fox news characteristically hired Mark "Mr. LAPD" Fuhrman as a news consultant. This week MSNBC shock-jock Don Imus rocked the airways during the national broadcast of the Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship.

For those of you who don't know what took place during the broadcast, please see the following link: http://www.philly.com/philly/columnists/20070410_Elmer_Smith___Imus_is_a_stone-cold_racist_-___dont_you_forget_it_.html

MSNBC released a statement yesterday mentioning that Don Imus will receive a "suspension" for "Two Weeks" due to his comments.

What's your opinion on this matter?

Coach Eddie Robinson

February. 19, 1919 - April 04, 2007

  • Winningest coach in college football history.
  • Personally accounted for putting more than 200 African American players into the NFL.

A legend within his own right, Coach Eddie G. Robinson paved through black history as an exceptional head football coach decades at a time. With no questions asked, he set the pace for coaches, football players and athletes in all sports.

The renowned Grambling State Tiger head football coach, Robinson decided to wind down his half a century career and close a chapter on perhaps one sport history’s most remarkable, yet improbable eras…a successful completion of his reign for nearly six decades at the helm of Grambling State’s football team.

Looking back on Coach Robinson’s career can be compared to that of looking through a college football time capsule. He first started to dream about coaching sometime around the 4th grade. He focused in on that ambition and was soon introduced to a football playbook in the 1930s. He later coached college football during the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and the 90s, a career spanning 56 years. During the course of his many decades of distinguished service, Coach Robinson not only sent hundreds of his former Tigers to the professional leagues, but he also saw countless numbers of his other Tigers succeed in many other endeavors, including one who later became the president of Grambling.

Somehow through it all, Eddie Robinson was able to maintain the competitive edge that sometimes typifies the difference between winning and losing. His prime was much longer than most other coaching careers, and the Coach was able to remain productive well into his 70s. In fact he was 75 years old when, in 1994, he led his Tigers to a co-conference championship and was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) coach of the year. By the time Eddie Robinson called it a career, he had amassed an NCAA record-shattering 408 career coaching wins.

2Pacalypse Now

I don’t expect anyone outside of the African American community to have much of an opinion on this topic. Nor would I even request it. That’s like me attempting to break down what the Clinton’s & Bush’s think about Frank Sinatra………the question wouldn’t be of great significance (thanks Dennis).

This is being directed strictly toward my brothers & sisters of African descent out there. I don’t care if you make $12,000 or $80,000 a year. It doesn’t matter if you’re 16 or 61 years old. Nor does it matter if you’re from a single parent home or were privileged to have both a mother & a father in your life during your adolescent years………THIS question my friends “IS” of great significance.

Question of the day: Should Tupac be remembered as a Hero or a Menace?

Tupac…………is this a brother who we should tell our kids about in the future for inspirational purposes, or is this a man who we should remove from our mental rolodex’s like Barry Bonds removes baseballs from ballparks on the regular?

I’m man enough to leave my opinion on the topic: In my opinion Tupac served NO positive purpose to the African American community. He did however serve a purpose for Death Row Records, Radio, Media Outlets, and Thugs all across the world who believe they’re way of life is the life that black men and their families should live for generations to come.

Now I’m sure some of you are “ragging” mad right now (thanks again D)……………but that’s cool. You were probably mad at my man “Cosby” a few months back also. If so, it looks to be a trend. A trend that HAS to continue to happen in order for some of you to“wake up!”

Tupac was NO hero. Tupac was a young man with unlimited potential. A young man who if allowed to grow and mature in life could have possibly learned to harness his god-given abilities. He was a young man full of charisma, talent, and enthusiasm. A young man who could have crossed generational gaps by simply using his smile, his laughter, his “Game”….the same smile, laugh, & Game, that pulled groupie, after groupie, after groupie.

He was a young man who was gunned down for having a voice. Too bad the voice was nothing to be remembered.

Some may think I’m being “harsh“. Many may say I’m being a “hater”. I’ve been called both before, but if either term is being used in regards to this blog-topic, then I’ll consider it “opinions” as usual. No harm done.

Folks if you ask me about Martin, Malcolm, Jackson, Farrakhan, Sharpton, Mandela, I’d say these are/were brothers who made their share of mistakes. None of them are/were perfect. ALL of them have potholes that can never been filled. But with that being said, each of these men dedicated their lives to the upward movement for their race. Positive movement! True Inspirations whose stories should be told for generations to come.

Can this be said of Tupac? I know, I know, that’s a hard committee to be compared to, but damn!!! Was he really anywhere close?!

Enough of the Tupac T-shirts!!! Enough of the documentary’s attempting to portray him as our next Martin Luther King!!! Enough of the hip-hop community sending shout-outs to this guy. When was the last time a rapper dedicated a song to MLK or Malcolm (excluding Erick Sermon)?!

What would have happened if Pac’ (as he is so affectionately called), had not been taken from this world so soon? The sky’s the limit I say. Unfortunately he was taken though. So all we have is what he left us with.

One last question before I ask for your comments………… “15 minutes before Pac’ was gunned down, what do you suppose he was doing? The answer: He along with his entourage were beating down a guy in a Las Vegas Casino over a damn gold chain………the guy was a 27 year old black man. As Tupac would say……”keep ya’ head up”.

Mark Fuhrman & FOX News

Question for the day: Would You Want a Man who Said and Did the Following To be a Face of Your News Organization?
-
  • Perjured himself on national TV when he said he never used the word, nigger, when it was common knowledge he did.
  • Claimed as a consultant (on tape) for a screen play on women in law enforcement, NOT race, that he had regularly framed black people.
  • Claimed as a consultant (on tape) that he would like to build a bomb that could blow up all black people.
  • Claimed as a consultant (on tape) that he would attend "kill parties" whenever a cop killed a black man.
  • Who was quoted saying the following: all black people should be collected and burned.
    *

  • Claimed as a consultant (on tape) all of the following

    1. No, if I would have arrested the son of a b***h, I would have killed him. If I ever see the son of a b***h and we're alone, I would kill him...If there's nobody except him and me, dead men tell no tales."
    2. "Most real good policemen understand that they would love to take certain people to the alley and just blow their brains out..."
    3. "We stopped the choke because a bunch of N*****s have a bunch of these organizations in the south end, and because all N*****s are choked out and killed -- twelve in ten years. Really is extraordinary, isn't it?"
    4. "Westwood is gone, the n*****s have discovered it."
"There is going to be a massacre in the future and they know that. There is the Rolling 60's, n****r group they went into a sporting good store and stole 50 Uzis, 3,000 rounds."
    5. "First thing, anything out of a n*****'s mouth for the first five or six sentences is a f*****g lie. That is just right out. There has got to be a reason why he is going to tell you the truth… You choke him out until he tells you the truth. You know it is kind of funny. But a lot of policemen will get a kick out of it."
    6. "We basically get impatient with him being so f*****g stupid. Which I thought he was. So I just handcuffed him and went the scenic route to the station. We searched him again and found the gun. Went over to the baseball diamond and talked to him. When I left, Dana goes, `No blood, Mark.' `No problem, not even any marks, Dana.' Just body shots. Did you ever try to find a bruise on a N****r. It is pretty tough, huh?"
    7. "When he gives me his driver's license, I'll just rip the fucker up."
    8. "I had 66 allegations of brutality… We grabbed a girl that lived there… Grabbed her by the hair and stuck a gun to her head, and used her as a barricade. Walked up and told them: `I've got this girl, I'll blow her f*****g brains out, if you come out with a gun.' Held her like this -- threw the b***h down the stairs… I must have about 3000 or 4000 pages of internal affairs investigations out there.

Now, some people might object to much of the foul language in this particular blog. It's all Mark's language folks. They might feel that it should be censored and might even judge me for reprinting it. Again, it's all Marky Mark’s language. The question these people should ask themselves is: Why not judge Mark for the words.

Is "24" Running Out of Time?

It’s happened to “The X-Files”, “The Cosby Show”, “Cheers”, “Hill Street Blues”, and even “Sanford & Son” (smiles). It happens to the best of shows……….s**t get’s old. Now, “why” it gets old is up for debate.

The Question of the Day: Is “24” Running Out of Time”?

You remember the good ol’ days don’t you (as recently as last season)? You know…..anticipating the sounds of “tick’…….’tick’……...’tick’…….’Previously on 24!”
The days of Jack Bauer ( Aka – Captain America ) passionately interrogating defenseless enemies of state. The times we would gather in group huddles days after each episode to debate on the high’s & low’s of the previous show. The passion, the suspense, the intensity,……..is it gone?

I for one have been having minimal conversations with long-time “24” fans and it seems as if we ALL have come to the same conclusion……it’s not the show that seems to be dwindiling……it’s our expectations.

Is Jack Bauer the modern day Luke Skywalker? How about Bruce Lee? Some might even say John Wayne (I think Chuck D would find offense with that one), but I’m sure you get where I’m coming from. Most individuals who have dedicated an hour of their time ONCE to tuning in to an episode of “24” have hopelessly found themselves becoming attached to the show and it’s plot. Jack Bauer (played by Kiefer Sutherland – yes, from the “Lost Boys”) has a lot to do with the shows success over the years. Many of us believe he’s the sole reason why we found ourselves continually tuning in every Monday night. I actually believe the veteran cast and the music incorporated within the show are equally as important as Jack/Kiefer himself.

With this said though, the average fan is starting to loose some interest. People aren’t in that much of a rush to get home by 8:55 on Mondays. People aren’t in that big of a rush to put their kids to bed by 8:45 on Monday nights. People aren’t ignoring many phone calls between the hours of 9:00-10:00 on Mondays either anymore.

If “24” is truly loosing some of its punch, whose fault is it? Are we to be blamed? What’s your opinion?

02.05.08 - Who Will Get Your Vote?

The United States presidential election of 2008 will be held on November 4th, 2008. But before this day takes place, both the Republican & Democratic nominees will be chosen earlier in the year.

The candidates for each party will NOT be chosen by the flipping of coins. Nor will they be chosen by the pulling of names out of a hat. No, this will be personal…….YOU will have a choice in the matter.

On 02.05.08 a vote will take place to determine the Democrats nominee for the office of President of the United States. The two individuals leading the race as of today are:
The Senator from New York - Hillary Rodham Clinton
& the Senator from Illinois – Barack Obama.

In my opinion both of the candidates are capable, but at the same time each of them have weaknesses which will have to be dealt with internally sooner than later.

Question of the day: If the vote was to take place today, which would you vote for? Why?

    Who's the "MAN" ??

Okay, the last few days of BLOGS have been sort of “heavy”. Let’s try a more “laid-back” type of post to start the week off…….

Who’s the Man!? “The Dark Knight” (BATMAN) or “The Boy Scout” (SUPERMAN)

    Rei – You’re a Superman guy right?

    GA Confederate History MONTH?!

Now before I even get started, I must point out that neither I nor Rei put this BLOG together to bash any groups, any opinions, and/or any particular persons in order to get our points across. This BLOG was created solely for expressing our views and also to captivate others to express their thoughts.
Now with that said, ignorance is still bliss. Sometimes I feel the need to piss on stupidity ESPECICIALLY when it's visibly massive.
Folks, it looks like the state of Georgia is preparing to celebrate the "Confederacy". For those of you who have no idea what the "Confederacy" was (and still is), I'd advise you to hit the net......immediately!
On Thursday, March 15th 2007 (that's right.... 2007!) a panel of Georgia lawmakers signed off on a plan to create a Confederate heritage MONTH. Now folks, I didn't say DAY ( sarcastic grin).......no, no, no. I said MONTH. Wow!!!
Now if you didn't think that was the "craziest" thing you had heard recently, I've got another goodie for you (another sacarstic grin)......
Georiga Senator Jeff Mullis' stated within his bill that this is being done to "honor the memory of the Confederacy and all those millions of its citizens of various races and ethnic groups and religions who CONTRIBUTED in sundry and myriad ways to the cause of Southern Independence."
Are they trying to sell the notation that "various races, ethnic groups, and religions" CONTRIBUTED to the confederate cause? They're trying to HONOR the memory of "various races, ethnic groups, and religions?!?! WOW!!!! You've got to be kidding me?!? Folks, this is what's being attempted by some of our law makers. While the majority of us are at work trying to make an honest living to take care of our families and our futures, we have hipocrasy taking place down town.
I'm not going to ramble on about this at this time, I just wanted to inform you guys/gals of what the powers that be are working on.
If you'd like to read more about this topic here's two links that will help you get up to speed.

Question: When is enough actually enough

When is enough actually enough? Better yet, let me poise this question to you: Do men and/or women who commit vicious crimes against children deserve rehabilitation? I ask this to you under the notion that "after" this supposed rehabilitation, they would actually be allowed to walk the streets freely, shop in grocery stores, go to the movies, and enjoy the other options which are available to all of us as generally law abiding citizens.

And might I add, they'd also have the ability to commit the same type of crime (or worse) at a later time.

This past Wednesday afternoon a jury in Citrus County, FL recommended death for John Couey for the vicious killing of Jessica Lunsford (9). Thursday afternoon, after a week long search for a young Michael Barrios (6), police found the young boy in a black garbage bag in a field near a local airport in Brunswick GA. Local police are expected to file murder charges against four people already in custody: George Edenfield, a 32-year-old convicted sex offender; his parents, David and Peggy Edenfield; and, family friend Donald Dale.

I am not a parent at this time. So I expect my feelings to be somewhat different or should I say possibly "lesser" in a sense from anyone who is blessed to have children of their own. With that said though, I am a GOD fearing/loving young man who yearns to be a father one day. I can only imagine the pain that the parents of Michael & Jessica must have endured learning of the deaths of their children.

Again, I ask you: Do men and/or women who commit vicious crimes against children deserve rehabilitation?

    3 Lessons

    Lesson Number One

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"
The crow answered: "Sure, why not."
So, the Rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

    Lesson Number Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed, the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull.
"They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree.
The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon, he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullsh*t might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

    Lesson Number Three

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold; the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

The morals of this story are:

    1) Not everyone who drops sh*t on you is your enemy.
    2) Not everyone who gets you out of sh*t is your friend.
    3) And when you're in deep sh*t, keep your mouth shut.
